CARABINIERI PATROL BOAT WITH TRANSFLUID HYBRID SYSTEM AT THE VENICE BOAT SHOW 2021

The FSD N800 HY Carabinieri’s patrol boat, the fourth italian military/police force, completely independent and fully equipped with air force, land force and navy, was present at the 2021 Venice Boat Show enjoying great success. The supply of almost twenty FSD N800 HY offshore patrol boats has been assigned to Ferretti Security Division and sees the first boats already operational in the Italian seas.

The N800 HY FSD is the first hybrid patrol boat to join the Carabinieri fleet, to be deployed for rescue and security operations, to patrol coastal and territorial waters. The new FSD N800 HY patrol boats have a new generation hybrid propulsion system, easy to use and maneuverability that allows with a simple operation to switch from Diesel mode to electric mode and vice versa, guaranteeing a significant reduction in emissions and total respect for the environment.

These new vessels have a length of 16.75 meters, a beam of 4.43 meters and a draft of 1.57 meters, with a hull made by composite materials consisting of glass-fiber and carbon-fiber. These units are powered by a the Transfluid HM3350 parallel hybrid, integrated with Transfluid PM electric motors and LiFePO4 batteries, where all of these equipment are DNV-GL type approved.

The boat has an autonomy of about 1 hour at 7kn and 2 hours at 5kn and a maximum speed in electric mode of 8kn and in Diesel of 30kn. In Diesel mode, the total regeneration of the batteries is carried out in about an hour and a half, the electric mode, in addition to saving fuel, also allows savings in maintenance costs thanks to the fact that the hours of use of the Diesel are reduced.
